Stephen Yoo, M.D.
Dr Yoo is double board certified, in both general surgery and colon and rectal surgery. Along with the majority of his colleagues from LA Colon, he is an Attending Surgeon at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he is also an active member of the teaching faculty within the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
Dr Yoo undertook his Bachelor’s degree at Andrews University in Michigan, which was then followed by a medical degree at Loma Linda University in California. He then completed a surgical residency at Providence Hospital, and during his time there, he was appointed Academic Chief Resident. A fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit was undertaken after his residency, where he completed further training in colorectal surgery.
Dr Yoo is regularly invited to present the findings of his original research at the conferences of professional societies, both across the United States and internationally. His main research interests are the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, and the reduction in the recurrence of colorectal cancer, which can be linked to the frequency of infectious complications that occur after undergoing surgery.
