Liza M. Capiendo, M.D.Dr Capiendo is a board certified colorectal surgeon, and is a member of the professional organization that is known as the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. In addition to her work at LA Colon, based in Beverly Hills and Culver City, California, she is also an Attending Physician at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She is an active member of the teaching faculty in the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Cedars Sinai.

Dr Capiendo undertook her Bachelor’s degree at California State University, from which she graduated Summa Cum Laude. This was followed by a medical degree from Loma Linda University, which is also in California. She then completed a surgical residency at King Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles, and during her time there, she was awarded the Surgical Resident of the Year award on three separate occasions. A Colon and Rectal Fellowship was completed at Los Angeles County – USC Medical Center, which is part of the University of Southern California.

Dr Capiendo’s recent research into the treatment of colon conditions using xenografts has recently been published in the Journal of Immunopharmacology. She has also presented the results of her investigations at the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons convention, held in Philadelphia. She is particularly interested in the treatment of rectal disorders in women, specializing in fecal incontinence and pelvic floor disorders.
