THD – The New Treatment for Hemorrhoids

A new treatment method for hemorrhoids in Los Angeles eliminates the need for tissue removal, making hemorrhoid treatment quicker, safer and more effective than it ever has been before.

THD - The New Treatment for Hemorrhoids

A new minimally invasive surgical solution is now available for the removal and treatment of hemorrhoids in Los Angeles. This procedure is known as transanal hemorrhoidal dearterialization or THD, and it is helping many people to overcome the lingering pain, itching and burning caused by hemorrhoids with absolutely no post-surgical down time.

Hemorrhoids are swollen, twisted veins that develop in and around the anus. These mangled veins can grow incredibly painful, especially during bowel movements, and often cause severe itching. One of the most telling signs of a hemorrhoid is blood on toilet tissue—when this develops you should always contact your colorectal specialist, as other causes of anal bleeding could indicate a much more severe condition.

Treatment for hemorrhoids ranges from the application of herbal solutions to surgical hemorrhoidectomy, which involves the excision of the tissue surrounding the mangled vein. Alternative and other natural solutions generally cannot cure hemorrhoids, but instead attempt to mask their appearance by reducing the itching or irritation.

A New Solution for Hemorrhoids

The THD surgical solution is the first of its kind for hemorrhoid removal.  The procedure uses Doppler to pinpoint the minor branches of the arteries bringing blood into the hemorrhoid and uses a suture to tie off the artery and the inflow of blood. The veins that allow blood out of the hemorrhoidal area are left open, essentially draining the hemorrhoids without any tissue excision required.

The deflation of the hemorrhoid eliminates the pain experienced during bowel movements, as well as the itching and burning sensations associated with the presence of the hemorrhoid. This surgical solution can be used to treat both internal and external hemorrhoids.

Unlike more extensive operations like the traditional hemorrhoidectomy, the THD procedure is nearly painless. Since no tissue is removed there is no need for multiple sutures or extensive bandaging. The THD procedure is completed in an outpatient center and takes no more than 35 minutes from start to finish.
